Through its Foundation, the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) — the first and only companion animal veterinary association — launched the AAHA Helping Pets Fund in 2005 to help those in need access quality veterinary care for sick or injured pets.
With this fund, veterinary care is possible for sick or injured pets even when they have been abandoned or their owners are experiencing financial hardship. The AAHA Foundation trustees envision a future when more pets are saved and more pet owners are grateful. Foundation staff is working every day to make this vision a reality.
Since 1933, AAHA has strived to meet the public’s needs for pet care by supporting companion animal veterinary practices through a variety of high-quality programs. The AAHA Board of Directors established a Foundation in 1978 to fund programs that would improve the lives of pets. Now, this Foundation is embracing a benevolent mission through the AAHA Helping Pets Fund.
What is AAHA?
The American Animal Hospital Association, or AAHA, is an association for pet veterinarians and their staff members. We help them improve the care they give pets by providing continuing education, books, training, and other resources. We also have an accreditation program, which involves rigorous inspections of veterinary clinics to ensure the highest quality standards. A veterinary clinic that is “AAHA-Accredited” is part of a select group comprising only 14% of veterinary hospital in North America. For more information, visit the AAHA website.
